Default 5.9 CR Versus 6.0 PSD?

I'm going to be getting into a new truck and it's going to be one of these two. I want to hear honest pros and cons for both. I'm looking at 2004.5 Cummins and up and 2005 PSDs. Let me have it!

ANDREW, we aren't gonna start this all over again are we.

I can't wait for Doc to see this.

I had a 05 CC 6spd 6.0L and with straight pipe exhaust, SCT programmer and airaid intake I averaged 13-14mpg. I never abused the truck but I believe the headgasket was about to pop on me. I never had the EGT's over 1250* It only had 29,000 miles on it when I got it. The truck its self was built good as far as the body and interior. I also prefer the looks of the Ford. I also owned a 04 Xcab Automatic 6.0L. It averaged 15mpg and the TQ Shift transmission was flawless. With Straight Pipe Exhaust, Intake and SCT it was an extremely fast truck. I can't give any insite to the new Cummins because I have personally never owned one. From what I have read though I will never own another Auto Transmissin. The Ford 6.0L seems to be a hit and miss as far as fuel milleage or engine problems.

Where the hell is he???? I knew I'd catch someones eye! How are things, Dennis?

It's time to put the old girl to pasture. I started a new job and need a new mode of transportation. You know how I feel about those PSDs ... what do you think?

What's average mileage on the CR/PSD?

Any major problems with either?

I don't intend on modding this truck.

BTW: Doc, my 53 is still running strong! LMFAO!

They're all to new for me to know anything about but from reading through these boards I sure would suggest addin the Duramx to the list. The big race dispute bewteen truck quality seems to be between Duramax and Cummins these days.

Lifes good on this end, glad to see all the smoke didn't chase you off yet.

I'm biased, and I have seen too many issues with the 6.0 to buy one. If we were talking the 6.4 though, I think I'd buy one of them.

I was able to get some video of the fires from my back yard. We weren't bothered too much by them, other than the smoke and ash.

Duramax would be nice, but the truck is UGLY! My wife's boss picked up a Mega Cab today. Fully loaded for $39K ... sweet deal! I guess he bought it over the internet and they gave him $4000 rebate AND 0% financing ... oops! He's paying it off in a month or two, so no harm done!

The wife took a ride in it today and she said it is beautiful. She's trying to encourage me to get into one, but I can't justify the price. I'm trying to stay under $30K. I've seen a few quad cabs around here for the high 20's with 30K miles. I just need to make my mind up as to what I'm doing ... Ford or Dodge????

Where the hell's Shane? I stop in for a visit and he doesn't say hello? What gives?

can't speak much of the fords... I bought my dodge just because of the cummins.. a few friends have them one has almost 400K miles with few problems (tranny only).. he doesn't maintain it.. it leaks a quart of oil a month so he just dumps in a new one and figures that is an oil change..

work trucks are all 5.9 cummins... we work the heck out of them and they just keep going... if it can pull my 30K truck it can sure pull a little pick up..

Gerry, what's the word on mileage with the CR? I'm looking at 4x4 crew cab with the higher gearing ... I'm tired of the high RPMs of my 4:10s on the freeway.

I am averaging about 16-17 mixed freeway and city... I am pretty easy on the pickup...

WOrk truck there is no telling.. it sits parked running a pto most of the time so there is no real way of caculating milage...
