Is there an exhaust that is straight pipe catback? I'm not an environmentalist o ranything but I see no reason to NOT leave the cat in place... that sounds like the route for me. Or do you just have an exhaust guy do it.

Our turbo back straight pipe kits for trucks with cats are designed to either delete or keep the cat.

My '03 str8 piped has a pretty good drone right at 70-73 mph, slower or faster and it fades away...

Ive had a 06 CC short bed and a 04 CC long bed, both straight piped. I didnt notice a drone at all except for going up serious grades, or towing. On that note I think Im getting old b/c Im about to throw a muffler on.

What gears, cab size and trim level is it? This will also make a difference.

On my 04 Dodge Cummins I have a straight 4inch piping with no reducers all the way back then a 5inch tip. When cruising down the highway you wont no you have a straight pipe unless your outside the truck. My neighbors dont get bothered that much and I live on a hill so when I reverse out of my driveway I have a pretty big hill to climb, then its pretty loud. Its your choice what you do to your truck dont base it on your neighbors. If you want a straight pipe, shoot put it on there. You will not regret it. straight pipe on a cummins is the best sound too. Good luck

^^ Ditto. I have a mega cab with no cat or muffler but the resonator is still on it, and it sounds good and I really don't have any drone. If I do, it's only for a breif period up through the RPM's and then it will go away (like 100rpm range or so). With the windows up and the AC on and the radio on it's barely noticable unless I stomp on it.

I've somewhat re-thought my changes... I'd like to keep cat in place... for emissions testing and why not... would a catback or muffler delete even be worth while? (sound wise?)

I would say if your not going to gut it the whole way, then I wouldn't spend the money on a system and I would just delete the muffler. It will sound different no doubt but I don't know how much different. I don't have my muffler or cat but I still have my resonator and it's pretty loud. I do plan on upgrading to a 5" system some day but for now and the money it cost, I would just gut the stock pipe.
