Default Is there any drone with a straight pipe exhaust?

I've heard a cummins from the outside that I THINK had a 4" straightpipe and it souded great, but wasnt super loud far away (got half way down the freeway ramp and I couldnt hear it anymore.

I am interested in going this route, but wondered if they could be driven "quitely" so as to not **** my neighbors off, and dont really want to have a miserable time cruizing at 70 on the fwy.

Any input?

I'm not sure if you could drive it quietly enough to not **** off your neighbors, I guess it depends on how picky they are. They aren't too bad on the highway, there is definitely some exhaust noise but not something you can't cover with the radio.

In my experience at about 1900-2200rpm there will be a drone that will drive you crazy. Your neighbors wont be happy, but that can be dealt with.

Seems to depend on the truck. Also seems to be worse with a long box truck. I know its not a third gen but I had my 98 shortbox straightpiped for awhile. No drone at all. My buddys 97 longbox had so much drone his kids couldnt go on a long trip. He ended ripping out the interior and installing dynamat.

Interesting... You would think it would be worse with a short box. I'm running just a cat and it's fine. I would like to pull the cat too but I'm worried about it getting too "droany"

My 05 with a shortbox was straightpiped and had a loud drone. dads 05 with longbox has a little but not as bad as my shortbox. onl;y difference in the two was my pipe did not stick out at all and dads sticks out about 3"ish. His long box definatly outside the cab was louder though.

I think that has more to do with the droan inside the cab more than the length of the box. It will always be loud outside the truck but your neighbors will get used to it!
