Back to the 04 cummins The thing I like most about the 04 cummins is they were the last of the good intercoolers so you got a hell of a truck there H.O. and Good intercooler not those plastic tank P.O.S

You don't have to do anything! These trucks are just fine (and dependable) stock. But stock is the key word. A FASS or an Airdog system would be good but not necessary. It is one of the only mods that doesn't breed more mods!

Just by adding an airdog or fass fuel system, will gives you the ability to lift, pump, filter and seperate water from the fuel. This will save you time and money later on down the road.

Sounds like you got a good truck, you lucked out and got the HO with an auto, so that means you got the 48re, the rarer of the trucks for those years. I would suggest an Airdog II because it has that revised drawstraw and you won't have th 1/4 tank issues that alot of people have. The best way to check where you current lift pump is, is to bump starter but dont start the truck and leave the key in the "on" position. If it is still the block mounted pump you will hear it run for 30secs right next to the fuel filter, if it is the intank pump you can take off the fuel cap and listen, you will hear it humming in the tank. The airdog system also has better filtration than the stock fuel system, and filtration is the key to keeping these CR injectors alive. For a tuner I would suggest a mild one like a Smarty Jr or an Edge Juice with Attitude, unless you are planning on tranny upgrades, then I would go with the smarty SR.

And to Friday88, the intercooler problem was only in the later 05 and early 06 models, after 06 dodge woke and stopped putting the crappy plastic intercoolers in them .
