Default Remote Start

I have a 06 CTD 6-speed and am looking for a remote start. I was wondering if anyone out there has one and what your thoughts are on it. I do not really want one with the alarm and everything on it unless it is the best bang for my buck. With the 6-speed am I going to have to buy that dang $400 sensor (the one that you need for high idle)?

Thanks for any and all replies

remote start is not a good idea. with the sentry key, they will have to use a module that bypasses the system. this in turn give a potential thief the "keys" to steal your ride. Just wanted to make you aware to protect your ride.

Really? I had not thought about that. All of the models that I have seen will shut off if the key is not in when you put your foot on the brake. These were all in an automatic so I am not sure about the manual.

Have you pulled the codes to see what is causing the light to illuminate? Or is there even a code?

Dealership can install factory remote start on diesels. Local dealership here has done quite a few. Might check with your dealer.

I use the Viper 791XV. Works great and it's integrated with the factory alarm system.

I have one on mine and love it...especially in the middle of summer when its 120 degrees and I can cool my truck off before hopping in it.
