Default wastegate "woosh" sound in 04.5-07 cummins?

Is there anyway that anyone knows of to get these electronic wastegates on the 3rd gens to make that awsome sound that the older dodges make while shifting gears? Just a shot in the dark but I had a 98 12v cummins that was turned up pretty good & when you shifted with the boost built up pretty good it would sound almost like a shotgun sometimes. I loved it & i wish I could make my 05 do the same. Anybody know what im talkin about or do yall think Im crazy for chasing that "whoosh" sound. haha thanks

The whooshing isn't a bov its the way the air comes rushing out of the turbo back into the intake. Put a bhaf on your cummins and take out silencer rings and you should hear it. Putting an exhaust on helps too

I realize the sound isnt a bov being as i dont have one on my truck although that is kind of what the sound reminds me of. It sounds like youre talking about turbo "bark" but thats not what im talking about. I have a 5" straightpipe exhaust & ****** whistler intake with the silencer ring gone so i definately hear the turbo spooling but the older trucks, well before 2004.5 anyways, dont have the electronic wastegates on them so i thought thats what was making the "whoosh" sound. Also ive heard that the newer ones have an internal wastegate instead of external but im not sure how true that is

I'm telling you, the sound you heard on the 12v cummins (dunno about 24v) is the air rushing back into the intake. Turbo bark is when the turbo actually shudders and is forced in the opposite direction due to fast changes in air direction. Two different things.

As far as how a new cummins operates, I have not the slightest idea buddy

What exactly is a bhaf? I see this all the time & i know it has to do with the intake but not sure what it stands for?

Ok well as far as the "whoosh" sound im talking about while shifting gears i guess id have to show you what Im talking about because were not on the same page. I have a huge Amsoil filter then 6" pipe down to 4" to the turbo(****** whistler) with the silencer ring gone so hearing the turbo isnt an issue. The sound im trying to place isnt air coming back into the filter bc if that were the case wouldnt it do it on the 12 or 24 valve? Someone was saying its the wastegate which makes sense bc the wastegate on my current truck is electronic but the one on my 12v wasnt but im not sure how to go about changing that if thats whats goin on

My truck DOES make the whoosh noise dude. Pretty much every diesel makes it, they just hide it from consumers is all. Yes my wg is vacuum. The noise is air rushing back out the filter/airbox. The turbo goes from 150,000 rpms, then you shift, it goes do like 0 rpms. Thats what you are hearing.

The noise I'm talking about is the same exact noise a big-rig makes when shifting. It almost sounds like a bov, minus the bov. Yes you do have an excellent point though. Maybe it is because your wg is electric? I have no idea brother.
