which type of amsoil
IS THE 10 40 MARINE IS THAT THE AME? AND THE IS IT OK TO RUN THE 5W 30 IF THE BOOK CALLS FOR 5W 40 ?? IS THAT 5W 30 THE HDD ALSO THE CALLED THE 3000 SERIES? THEY HAVE THE AFL 5W 40 ? LOOKING FOR BETTER MPG WITCH IS BEST ?
The HDD, Series 3000 5W-30 diesel oil is a great product and can be run in any of these engines. It provides excellent protection and helps with fuel economy. Many shy away just because it is a 30 weight, but it will work just fine.
The AME is the 15W-40 diesel and marine. There is a 10W-40 Marine engine oil (WCF), this one is NOT for diesel engines.

I have been running Amsoil 5w30 HDD in my 2006 since Oct 2006 and without any problems so don't let anyone say you can't do so in a sound engine.. BTW Heath is who I get all of my Amsoil from and can tell you that 5w30 HDD is the oil diesel oil I buy.
People read the numbers and apply logic -- that often means that they see 5W20 as "thinner" and less sufficient an oil than 15W40 or 20W50. The numbers are the viscosity -- flow points at a particular temprature, not thickness or thinness of the oil. Each will carry the same load.
Running a lower viscosity number (5W20) means the oil will actually flow better to critical bearing areas at lower temps -- like during the critical cold start-up phase of an engine -- especially in cold climates where regular dino oils bearly pour from the bottle (or push through the oil pump).

to me a 5w20 just seems to thin for a diesel, but thats just my opinion,
i started running ams oil and love it, my truck was starting easier in the winter and builds oilpressure much faster on start up, and i change the filter every 3k, and seems like the oil stays cleaner guna take oil sample at 9k and see what the sample says
how does the mobile1 m1-403 compare to the ams or donaldson filter?

hey heath how much is that ams oil bypass kit, and what does it all consist of
