I should stay quiet on this but just want to clarify so "price" doesn't scare people off. AMSOIL can actually be more cost effective if you use like it's supposed to be used...at least 10-15k on an oil change when compared to 5-7k with regular oils As well as the long term benefit for the equipment.
Now that being said, I understand Tye's point. Availability can be an issue for some and if you're selling a brand right in house, tough to not use it.
Maybe he'd like to sell another brand and expand the shelves a little.

We've been toying with the idea. If we started selling it, then I would become a dealer. My biggest issue is time.

Thats the beauty of it dude.. I put as much time as I can into it, but you don't have to put any time into it if you don't want to. I did it because I wanted something to do. I am now going to school full time, working full time and doing amsoil stuff part time. Its difficult, but not THAT difficult. It would be good to have ya. If you would like, I would gladly send you some info on becoming a dealer when the time is right for ya.

Yep, from the UOAs I have seen, 15k even with the newer conventional oils in not hard to do with a Cummins. And other than I have a bypass, I have a UOA of Rotella CJ-4 that looks good with around 10k on it.

As for the filter thing...think of it this way, how much dirt do you have in your oil? It is an enclosed system (more/less), so its not like an air filter that is seeing new dirt with every mile. Most over the road rigs run 25k per filter/OCI. I doubt, on a maintained rig, there would be enough particles to plug a filter in 30k, let alone 15k.

With extended changes, I'd be more worried about soot loading with the newer engines, than the filter plugging or the oil breaking down prematurely.

I know this is an older thread but you can buy Amsoil cheaper then $7.00 a qt.
When I bought the higher priced Amsoil 5w30 HDD from Heath it only cost me $6.35 a qt. You can also get Amsoil 15w40 for only $4.485 a qt. BTW, the prices listed above are before taxes as of 9/13/ 2007 when bought in 2/2.5 gallon bottles.

I think the poster meant $7/gallon...
