Check the sensors just tap them to make sure they are close enough! Did you get a brake job done recently? Also hook up your scanner to pull the code that's the easy way!

i did not get any brake work done and as far as the scanner the check engine light is not on will it still pull up or do you need a different scanner or is there a different way to hook up and as far as tapping on the sensors are you refering to the ones on the front brakes because i did replace the abs speed sensor in the rear end already.

It depends on the scanner you have! The scanner will pull the code for the abs as long as the light is on. The front brake sensors are not accessable. You will have to pull the tires off. After you clear the code the light will stay on. you will have to drive it around the block to reset it. If the light doesn't go out there is still a problem.

ok so i had a buddy of mine with a fancy snap on scanner scan it and it says open circuit on right front abs sensor. now he said if i have to replace the sensor i have to replace the wheel bearing as well. all the local parts houses say that the sensor is NOT on the bearing but the excitor ring is i am gonna go pull all of it apart to see what is going on with it but has anyone heard that you HAVE to replace the wheel bearing. and most importantly thank you all for the help.

First make sure the sensor is plugged in then check for a broken wire and then go to your local dealer for a little parts info they have great pictures! Then you will know if it is a part of the wheel bearing assy " I don't think so" Now wasn't that easy!

ok so i took everything aparttonight and did not find any broken wires or anything however next to the silver pick up there is a crack in the plastic that is exposing cooper? wires so i am assuming that it allowed water in it and shorted? out i am gonna call the dealership tomorrow and get the sensor and will ask them if i "have to" replace the wheel bearing i just really hope that fixes it we are expecting up to 8 inches of snow and even now it stops fine i would really like to have my abs before the snow.

Contact edge!! See if they are aware of the problem. Also to verify that it is the edge remove it and reset the ABS. If it blows again you have a wire grounding out carefully inspect all the wires. You will have to remove the wheels to see it all!
