Default losing boost, power!!!

my 03 is having issues. it will spool to about 20 psi and all of a sudden in will lose pressure and power and make lotsa smoke. if you let out of it and start again it will do the same thing. rail pressure is good, new fass, filter, cp3, map sensor, 1 intercooler boot, wired the wastegate shut, pulled off all power adders and checked individually to rule them out, been to dr performance and texas diesel power but haven't got it figured out yet. please help

looks like you might have a boost leak. i dont know if they have a boost leak checker for the cummins but when i had my car that was turbo it leaked all the time and that is kinda what it did. all i did was get somthing to cover the intake then on that you have a little conection for a aircompressor and put like 6-9psi on it and then listen for the leak. here is a web site for the one for the car i'm sure you can do the same thing for the truck just have to make it to fit http://www.stealth316.com/2-pressuretester.htm anyone else know this is a shot??

cap a piece of PVC pipe then drill a hole in the end and epoxy in the right air hose fitting. then remove your intake tube from the boot and put the boost checker in its place. IIRC, whitmore made one and might have some better instructions. i would check it at around 20 psi though. i've heard of guys finding leaks at this pressure that weren't apparent at lower pressures.

does that one have the plastic end caps on the intercooler? have seen them crack and come off. Might have a leak in or around the intercooler if all your tubes are tight and secure.
