Here's what they turned mine down for, they put a filter on the pump and then are surprised if they find dirt there, hey the fuel filters turn black every time and the most of the crap was inside the pump housing I think made by the heat of the pump



Pump seems nice and clean

Oh yeah, that's the other thing they forget to mention: They left the vents on the tanks WIDE OPEN, and then guess what? Surprise, surprise, dirt ingresses to the tank. Wadda ya know?!

If you haven't done so already better check your fuel tanks and see if there's just an open hose hangin' in the breeze off the vents. Some didn't even get the 5 cent piece of hose. Mine have filters on them now.

if there is a good amount of sedement in the filter housing then i would check the fuel heater. the low continuety washers crumble over time and get sent threw your injectors witch sand blasts the tips and gives ya wierd running issues and a hard or no start in colder weather.

hey guys, sorry for the late response. Hadn't checked the thread yet and the notification of posts just came through last night.

I'm planning on cleaning out the canister to start with but I've never worked on a diesel. What do I need to do to clean this thing to get it ready to take somewhere else? Honestly at this point, I feel like no matter what I'd do, I'm still going to get pushback.

Funny that you guys mention the filter cleaning any sediment before reaching the injectors. I told them that and they said that it can still be picked up by the pump and not be filtered if it's in the canister. Are they lying or is that possible?

I live in Decatur, IL.

Also, I do eventually want to get an Air Dog after I get my injectors replaced but honestly, tryin to sell me one now isn't helping. I just got this truck after trading a perfectly good gasoline truck and putting down 1k cash only to find this Dodge is slipping in reverse and now that the injectors are bad. The last thing I'm interested in at the moment is buying more expensive parts to throw on it. I just want it fixed. I now can't even pull my boat anymore because I won't be able to back it into the driveway.

There you go, good offer Redfiretruck, We weren't trying to get you to throw away money, but the pump is usually the first to go and the air dog is cheaper and better than the stock one they would sell you as you would be turned down for bad fuel.

The reverse is a band adjustment if your lucky, I didn't know nothing about diesel when I got mine in 06 and starting reading my *** off on the forum and learned quick and have helped a few other guys, so I hope you get it worked out quick and then you love it.

Good luck getting it running good quick and a long and happy life with it.
