Did he call for backup?
Just wondering....cuz let's see here:
1) He took your phone number and will "call you back on the issue". Police have your ID, run your info to confirm all is correct, and 100% of communication is done via mail. They don't call about citations, they mail them.
2) This one is the most alarming, and important here. The officer crawled underneath your truck looking for a muffler/cat delete, which means he turned his back to you and got down into a submissive position without reinforcements present...???...
I'm thinking either:
1. he was hitting on you really bad
2. you're full of ****
3. more than one officer was there
4. you were already handcuffed for something else in the back seat of his car.

I've had the tank dipped while the truck was sittin in a parking lot but the only time I ever had a safety inspection was when the cop directed to the next chicken coupe up the road. He went in and pulled out the creeper and a few tools. He seemed to have somethin in mind he was lookin for but never told me what it was and I drove away with no problems.

Isn't there a sticker on the core support above the radiator, or maybe stuck on the underside of the hood that describes the presence (or lack thereof) of a catalyst? I know my '03 with the H.O. engine didn't come with a CAT (the S.O. motors did), but I'm not going out to look for a sticker right now. It's 95 degrees with 80% humidity out there! Hurry up fall!
