Default Is this normal????

I thought I would be getting MPG's towing...I run east to west coast so I have had plenty of tanks to compare........I have towed my 26 ft enclosed trailer...now have a 28 ft bumper pull TT hooked to the truck.....and I cant get better than 11.5(hand calc).....truck is an '03 6sp 2wd 4.10.....I have smarty jr.(on tow tune)5' exhaust and s&b intake and stock airbox(saving for an icebox)....my enclosed I get the same with it loaded or empty(though I would have gotton better with the TT since my enclosed is extra height).....egt's been staying around 900 crusing 68(1200-1250 on the climbs) and boost is about 9-12lbs and will not go above 24lbs(no complaints about not having power).I have tried everything from 62-72 mph to cruise on/off and still the same....any help/suggestions...btw I get 21-22 empty at 68mph....I recently switched over from an OBS 7.3

Thanks Guys!!!!...back on the road..check back in a bit

what's the weight of the tt compaired to the enclosed? My buddy had a tt that weighed about 11,ooo w/out packing it full to go camping. Depending on what you pull in your enclosed it all makes a diffrence.

.yeah...its pretty nice...he built it right....did not just pull the axles and throw it on a GN......extended the frame....lots of reinforcing.I think he needs to move the axles forward a bit....he has 4500 pin weight with the cruiser on the back.He says it pulls great like that though...its 41ft from the pin to the tail.

5th wheels get better mileage than bumper pulls, used to pull them for a living, I could have a 40ft 13k lbs. 5th wheel and get 10-12mpg going 65-70mph, once I pulled a super light 4k lbs 23 ft TT and managed 8-10mpg with going the same 65-70mph. I would almost always get 2-3mpg better with a 5th wheel.

I don't know much about these trucks kinda new to it but i pull a 24' enclosed trailer that weighs around 9500 with my stuff in it and i get 14 (hand calculated) and when i hook on to my 30' gooseneck with my 17,000 lb telehandler i get about 11. My boost with the telehandler will stay around 15 or so and with the enclosed it will stay around 9-13 but if i get on it hard it will go to about 32-35 and i just got a new turbo put in. I also took off my banks kit( selling if anyone is interested though) so all i have now is 4" turbo back exhaust other than that i'm stock. Mine is a 05 6 speed manual.

what is the smarty set at? default torque management setting and the no smoke timing setting will be the best mileage.

the standard trannys will get a little better mileage as well. your gear ration is a factor as well.

do you have a muffler on your exhaust set up? i gained 1mpg by adding a muffler to my straight pipe exhaust.

the rpms need to be 2k or less.

with what you are towing 11.5 isnt that bad.
