Default tow/haul mode

I have an 06 CTD crewcab longbed automatic with 32k miles ( just purchased last week ) Unless i`m crazy it seems to me that when i`m in tow/haul mode this thing is still shifting into overdrive. It pulls strong through 1-2 & then hits third but then seems to almost immediately shift again OD ???? this thing is bone stock. is this normal, a factor safety thing, it seems to me that it should just keep on pulling. Come to think of it it does this while in "normal " mode as well. How do i fix this or is there an aftermarket device that will give me what i want..... Thanks for your help.

It should shift into OD while in tow/haul mode, that is normal. It shouldn't just jump past 3rd though.

thats a new one to me...but what would make it jump past third? is this just how they are from factory? would i need a programmer to change this or some other type of device? Thank Youfor your time.

Hut.. we have the same exact truck...color and all. I bet she runs pretty good with the amount of mods. you have listed.

my 06 when in tow haul is on the tc through 1st and 2nd when it shifts into 3rd the tc locks up... maybe that is what your feeling? Then it shifts into OD and lock up again

Yep it runs nice but more to come.
Mine usually locks at about 50 mph under medium throttle.

In Tow Haul: 1st, 2nd, TC lockup, OD. That way the clutches don't slip, casing the transmission to overheat or worse, burn up the transmission when pulling a heavy load.

YES thats what mine does. If you want to not go to overdrive just push the button a second time and it locks out OD

ok .. i understand what you guys are saying, it just seems like it should pull a little longer in third before shifting into OD. it doesn`t even stay in 3 rd longer than a couple seconds. Thank You to all of you for your help.....
