Default Programming/Tuning

I have a 06 ram 2500 with the older bully dog programmer. I recently got pulled over for my exhaust (Live in CA) and was told I need to install my stock exhaust and I need to get it inspected by some DOT or some special kind of officer. Said I also need to remove my tuner, can I just remove it by disconnecting the wires and hiding them or do I need to do anything to my ECM as well?

gotta love CA! Yes unplugging the module will take the tuning off. Get EFI tuning! Your truck will run cleaner with more power and you dont need a monitor!- no one would know
