I have no problem with the idle up just this is the first diesel I've owned since my Uncle Sam used to let me drive & work on some of his cool toys and just wanting to wrap my head around whats going on and why

 

All late 04 and up trucks cam with idle feature in the ECU. It has to be turned on and activated to be available. Most autos were done as a part of dealer prep, a lot of manuals were nto done because it needs a clutch switch and an ECU pin grounded.

No 3 cylinder high idle on a CR. The lope you hear is the ECU splitting the injection event into 2 equal parts to aid warm up.
