Start with starting fluid no power when towing
I have a 2004.5 cummins. I had a line brake on the lift pump so i replaced the lift pump. After replacing it the starting got harder and harder. Now i have to start it with starting fluid. Pulled the pump to see if there was something wrong with it. Put it back together and it started right up for about 20 starts. It is throwing a code for p0148 fuel delivery problem. There is no power when towing. Could this be the lift pump starving the cp3 pump? Iv heard it could be injectors, cp3, fca, and the relief valve. Does anyone have any ideas? Would the lift pump cause this issue? Thank you.
Put a guage on the supply line to the CP3. WHile running pull the harness off the CP3 it should rattle real bad, that is full pressure through the pump. Plug it back in and it should recover in 30 seconds or less. Stop using starter fluid Very bad! Fix the problem! If your not able to take it to the dealer for diagnosis!
If it doesn't rattle real bad you have an issue with the CP3 or return flow is to high!

You really need some gauges for supply and CP3 pressure!
