Default Cant remove shock!

Changing my shock, I took the tower off and everything else and just needed to take the bottom bolt out to remove the shock. The nut on this bottom bolt is suppose to remain stationary while turn to bolt to loosen and tighten. The bracket holding the nut broke and it spins freely.
Has anyone had this problem before and if so how did you fix the issue? The only conclusion I've come to is having to compress and remove the spring. Any ideas or experiences from who have been in this situation would be appreciated

Yeah I tried to go through the spring with a wrench and vise grips, but there isn't enough room to do anything. I figured a torch but wanted to exhaust every method first. When all else fails I'll pull the spring I guess
