So I just sold my 01 Ram 1500 and am wanting another Dodge and a diesel. I found a clean 2003 4dr, 2wd, 6spd with 237K for what I feel is a good price was wondering is there any maintenance issue? Truck appears to be taken care of owner claims it is a high output Cummins 305hp/555tq over the standard 250hp/460tq is there different engines?

I've got an 03, and the biggest maintenance issues were the lift pump, steering components, ball joints, and u joints. Not that they all went at the same time, but over the course that I've owned it, these are the main items that I replaced. I believe the 03 came with a 305/555. that is what I have. I have added some after markets, and I really haven't had a lot of issues. I think that next item is going to be a steering box support.

 

You have the HO engine not the SO variety. Lift pump would be my main concern, see if it has been retrofitted with the intank LP.
