You should put some miles on any clutch before you tow anything of substance...just to bed it in.
IIRC, when I had my OFe, it would slip with just a bit of throttle right after it was installed, with a Smarty JR on 70HP...took a few days of normal driving to get it to finally seat, then it held fine until it needed replaced.
