#53 Blocks

just kinda wondering. The blocks are thin eny one had or herd of eny problems . My self i have a buddy runnin the crap out of his seems fine

Yep, the #53 blocks are thinner in certain locations. They seem to be OK until you start the bombing process then they have a tendency to crack. There is a Lock and Stitch method of repair that seems promising.............

my truck has a 53.. it also cracked teh first week i had it..
had it stiched up and its doing great now!! andits not gonna stop me from bobing the hell out of it.

I have a 53 as well and no problems here (knock on wood) But mine isn't heavily bombed either

About how much does it cost to have the block repaired with lock n stitch?

a lot. luckily i was under warrenty.. i believe the bill was over 2k but thats because to do it properly the engine has to be removed... and torn apart..

Heard of people drilling out the ends of the cracks and welding it back w/cast rods, much cheaper, and ive heard of no problems, but there may be some issues w/em recracking. Dr Evil, u ever heard of people doing this? Personally, im poor, and a welder, so thats what i'd do.

hmm they pulled my motor out.. but i thought to magnaflux the motor it had to be removed?

but my crack was bad.
