I know of a guy that has one and it is heavily modded , and he has no problems so far that I know of. I read an article that said a lot of times modding them doesn't have as bad affect as consistent everyday towing. Thats what I read.

I've got one too and I don't believe there is a way to determine when it's going to crack or why, I think it's the luck of the draw. I've got just shy of 150K on mine and not a sign that she's going to go (fingers crossed!). I used to get caught up in the paranoia, but what the hell, if it's going to go, it'll go! Forget it and enjoy your truck, there's no point in worrying about it now!

Dr. Evil, I bet you were wondering how long it was going to be before I chimed in ...

There are at least 3 different castings of the 53 block...2 of them are relatively trouble free with towing and or bombing...the sad part is that just over half are of the troublesome variety...I'll try to find the place where I read the info...

I have been fortunate enough to own two 53 blocks. My first an 01 HO, never an issue. My current is a 99 w/222,XXX, no problems yet. Im not that concerned
