Default Possible injecton pump problems?

Hey guys its been awhile since i've been on here... What are the tell tale signs of a bad injection pump or a bad injector? Ive changed the fuel filters on my airdog just the other day and my truck has this surge issue at 50-60mph. When I first start my truck it seems like it idles rough but once the motor is warm I dont have a problem with it except the surging issue. Another thing is right when I first crank it up and take off driving I have a dead pedal. But it goes away like after 30 seconds and the truck runs fine. I un-installed the smarty thinking that was the problem but I have no clue! Could it be some Trashy diesel fuel or a bad injector/dead cylinder?? Cause once I drained my old fuel filter/water seperator it looked like oil came out of it. Please Help me out!!

Scan it for codes first even if the CEL isnt on

If you suspect bad fuel drain and clean everything including dropping the tank and cleaning it

it could be an injector, the TPS or the VP

with it running crack open one injector line at a time at the head if you find one that dosnt cause a change in the way the truck runs then remove that injector and move it to a different cylinder if the problem moves with the injector then you have a bad injector if it stays with the cylinder then i would do a compression test on that cylinder

if you have a friend who owns a similar year truck try swapping TPS sensors with him to see if that is the problem.

I've scanned for codes but nothing pops up. I hope its just trashy fuel. and as far as cracking each injector line I plan on doing that tomorrow. I also bought a bottle of that Lucas injector cleaner.. IDK if thats going to work. Got my fingers crossed .

Look up the procedure to ADJUST apps, not unhook batteries baloney procedure... you have to check the voltage. Do that and if it doesn't fix it, you're vp could be going. My vp went with no codes until the day it quit for good I had p0216... Don't waste your money on injector cleaner.

Is there a thread on here on how you would adjust it?

There is also an excellent write up on this site as well. The search box does work well.

Well we hooked the scanner up to it and it and 2 codes came up P0216 injection timing circuit malfunction and P1693... Sounds to me like my VP-44 is going to crap out or on its last leg
