raptor 100 instal question
just got done with raptor 100 install, went smooth but was not to impressed with the in tank fuel pump upgrade that came with kit, I should have went with the vulcan draw straw, so I didn't have to drill holes and use that cheesy set up, but other than that the raptor and 1/2 inch hoses work well. My question is does the raptor ever shut off or does it run continuously with key on. I let it run for a couple minutes with out engine running and it never shut off, I figured it would when it got up to pressure, unless I got air in system ( i bled it at the in let then at the fpg sending unit on the out let side of canister) gauge is idling at 15 to 16 psi. have not drove truck yet to see what it does under load at wot. Also what is the best way to shorten up the pressure side hose going to the canister.
The pump should only run for only a couple seconds when you turn the key ignition on and for only 25 seconds when you bump the starter (without starting and leaving key to ignition on). Double check your wiring, maybe a stuck relay. The pump will run continuous while the engine runs. I am running 16-17 at idle and draw down to 14 while on the highway. If you get crazy fluctuations while running, call pureflow for the viton ball. I plan on doing a sump on the bottom of the tank because I don't think the raptor is strong enough on the pull side as the push side as I still get some fluctuation when I get around 1/2 tank.
thanks for the reply, I called thoroughbred diesel where I got the pump and they said it would be fine to fun it that way, but if I could figure out how to wire it so it shuts off when engine not running and key on I would, the way I have it now is the two pin wire that plugs into the modual on the top side of fuel filter canister, i un pluged it and pluged in the lead from the raptor harness. thats the way the directions showed, any other ideas?
Are you wired up to the plug for the original lift pump? Sounds like it is wired to something "ignition on" activated. The leads for the original lift pump are down pertnear the starter. There is a lead near the filter on my truck that is not plugged in, not sure what it is for.
No, but maybe if I look around some more the original lift pump plug should be there, Dodge done the in tank conversion a year ago, I don't know what they did with the plug, I have to go on a trip with the truck for a few days when I get back I will look around some more.
