Default Wanting to swap auto for a manual. have a question.

My truck is a 01 Other than interior parts can you get a 6spd from a 03 up and it bolt in?
bellhousing, and other hard parts. Reason I ask, it seems I could get a newer draintrain easier than trying to find the other.

might call somewhere like south bend, and see maybe if they take the same clutch package between the two years, don't know why else it wouldn't swap. it is still the same basic 6bt engine block casting

I can't see why it wouldn't work. Manual transmissions have that luxury. I have a feeling 01ISX is thinking of a 6 speed auto.

I'll double check south bend, but if it will it will certainly open up alot more options. Especially if I can get to a salvage auction, and buy a truck thats been wrecked.

yes it can be done with stock parts, but very spendy. I think there are threads on here disusing swap. if you dont pull huge amount of weight in hills the 5 speed works better, and much easier to shift. my 01 with 6 speed and 410s is terible to drive on trips empty because i shift 5 times before i get to 30 mph

I would but I have looked into this. The built auto price, is the same if not more than I can get a whole manual truck to swap with. If I found a NV4500 truck I would swap to a 5 spd. I'm trying to get all the info I can so when I start actually looking I'm not going blind.

It's more then just the trans though. I think you need a different PCM, Cup holders will hit the shifter, and a few other things. It all depends what you want in the end. I'll bet they will cost the same all said and done.
