1999 24 valve issues
Hey everyone. My buddys dads 24 valve is givin him fits. This is the description he gave me so i could ask u guys. He said they will be just cruisin along at a steady throttle and outta no where is starts to surge. He said it will start to throttle up and boost up 5 pounds and then it backs off right away and keeps doin it. He also said that wen they have it running they will drain some fuel outta the fuel filter and then close it back up and it will run good for a while but then do it again. Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks!

Is the engine surging like its running outta fuel? The tps will give false reading to the FICM and not give the engine the correct fuel. If you could find some one with a good OBDII go and drive the truck around look at the parameters while your driving such as fuel pressure. Does he have any Fuel Press guages???

Is the tq converter....mine did that a few years ago... Thought it was fuel related..but it wasn't...wish I had the extra money back then, so I could have put in billet tq converter and a good BD,suncoast, or goerend rebuild kit in it. If your going to dig into it, get the good parts the first time...just saying . But im going with tq converter

Yeah, tell him wrap the alternator wire with a good coat of aluminum foil, if it stops, then you know its the tc lock and unlocking. thats why it boosts up to 5 psi, because it keeps dropping out of OD. If it was the apps you'd have a code, but the described behavior is nothing I've heard of (or experienced) with apps issues.
