Default Vp44 codes... Need help quick

I have replaced entire fuel system in the last 8k. New vp44,fass lp apps, fuel pick up and 50hp injectors.

Truck suddenly got a dead pedal and died while I was waiting for it to warm up. I pulled fuel line at the filter and discovered my new fass pump was out.
I replaced the pump and primed by bumping the starter and she fired off and is running again. Nice smooth idle, however there is a brief hesitation when accelerating 2-6 seconds and then she goes like hell as it should.

I stopped and had it scanned and the codes are 0216,1698 and 1689.

Truck is a 99 with a six speed and it runs awsome other than it lagging. Also, when it broke down my batteries went dead because a light was left on, im hopeing thats the cause of the codes. I do not yet have a fpg, but thats on the list right after I get her running right and purchase a new clutch!

Please tell me its just air in the lines because I am out of money!

216 usually is caused by a faulty injection pump module that is caused from the inj. pump overheating due to lack of fuel pressure. for how long had ur fass pump been bad. if u starve the vp44 pump of proper fuel pressure it will fail pretty quick. you really need a fpg.

1689 is no communication between ecm and inj.pump module. u can check the fuel inj.pump relay under the hood, but it sounds like to me that a faulty lift pump has damaged your inj. pump. i hope im wrong for ur sake, and i cant stress enough the importance of a fpg.

Im not sure,i had a clogged pick up for a while and cleaned it and it ran perfect for about a week then stared starvin and sputtering at an idle and died. So I pulled the tank again an found a bunch of crap in the tank and a tear in the pick up screen. Then I diagnosed the lp and orded a new one. Now it runs good and hesitates under a load, just momenterally and then gains all power and goes like normal above 1800-2000k rpm.

have u reset the codes? and do they come back after u reset them? when u put on the new fass pump did u use new filters? u might have some crap in ur fuel line between the fass and inj. pump although the filters should have caught it.

Well I reset the codes and checked again after about 5minutes and it passed, however I drove it to work today and havent scanned it yet. If im getting ip codes does the check engine light usually come on? Also the truck ran alot better all day, but tonight I noticed it was missing/hesitating at about 2k again. Is this a normal bad ip symtom? If not, what else could be causing it? I have to get this thing figured out. This has been eating me alive for months. Thanks for the help folks...

u can get ur codes by cycling your key on,off,on,off and on witnout startn the truck. you have to do this in a five second period. it is a symptom of a malfunctioning IP escecially with po216, and 1689. have you tried swapping your fuel system relay with a different one? also check the fuel lines from the lift pump to the IP for partial blockage. one other thing that could cause this is an apps but u would more than likely be seeing a po121. po122, or a po123 code. im afraid the fauly lift pump might have damaged your IP.
