Default rules on idle?

Ok so I have a 2000 5spd 4x4 quad cab- edge compbox, 5inch exhaust, and intake,...
However my question is....... My truck recently became my daily driver and I only live 2miles from work...and the weather just stated to do into the teens and20's here.. I have been plugging my truck in at night...but how long is too long on letting it idle to warm up.....?
Thanks

In the winter I let mine warm up for 10 minutes at least. If i really have to get somewhere and I'm pressed for time I wait at least until the intake grid heater stops cycling.

Ok so what about letting it idle too much.... Like 20min or so....? My boss was saying that it can loss up and put diesel in the oil...? Any truth to that?

Ok so how long should I let it idle? To warm up when it is this temp range?

If you're keeping it plugged in, I would let it idle for 5 minutes but no more than 10

x2 on that. Plugged in just 5 minutes is fine, down below zero even plugged in I do about 5 to 8. No more than 10 at any point. The truth I've learned is unless You have high idle/3 cyl idle or an exhaust brake you can restrict with sitting idling to long just wastes fuel, to get it warm you gotta put load in it. That means drive just don't get froggy cold.
