I just bought a 2004 Cummins with a 6 speed. I am new to the common rails. I noticed that when i am stopped at a light the truck will idle at 1100 even when it is warm and then it sometimes will idle at the regular 750 or whatever it is. Sometimes it idles regular and other times it high idles. Please help!!! Thanks.

Nope no check engine light and used my edge to check for codes and there are none.

 

1100 AND STAY THERE OR? Cold outside? Weird issue there is a fast idle set up for the trucks but don't know about how it works.

 

It has been 50 degrees here during the day so it is not cold enough for high idle to kick in and I don't even have the high idle on my pickup yet. When you push in the clutch to come to a stop it will sometimes idle at 1100 and sometimes is will idle normal. I think it has something to do with my programmer, I have it on Eco. I noticed my friends 03 was doing the same thing yesterday and he says that his has done that since he has owned the pickup and he thinks it is due to the programmer. So last night I returned my truck to stock and it did not do it. Would always idle normal. Then I put the tune back on and it would idle normal sometimes and idle at 1100 at other times. So I don't know if the program changes something but my buddy says he has never had any problems with it doing that.

 

Problem solved live with it or get a smarty!
