Hey guys, I have an 01 24v and having 4wd problems. It will shift into 4hi fine and the light comes on but its not ingaging? I have vacuum at the front axle in both 2wd and 4hi. When I move slow it does nothing butt if I give it a little blast of pedal I can hear the gears grinding like it wants to go in.

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

 

pull the cover off the front axle and take a look sounds like maybe the 2 lil tabs off the shifting fork may be busted off or possibly worse........the cove is easy to pull but if I remember right you will loose just a bit of fluid

 

Thanks! Ill do that in the morning and see what I come up with. I'm guessing the transfer case and linkage are fine since when I shift it into 4hi the front drive shaft doesn't spin by hand. I'm woundering also if the accuator could be bad??

 

my 4 wheel drive engages but its doing the same as yours, light comes on and everything but idk cant figure it out, and i noticed i am having a little vibration on and off while driving

 

Had this happen a few years back. What happened to mine was the shaft disengaging and pretty much just floating around in the axle. Also made a noise that sounded like pennies in a dryer. Might want to check the shafts at the knuckles.
