Default Rebuild VP 44 before it dies

Has anyone had their VP 44 freshened before it dies? I was wondering if I sent my pump to someone before it failed could I save money? I work at a torque converter shop and know if we fix a converter before a major failure we can charge less. I realize I am comparing apples to oranges but thought I would ask anyway. Thanks

I havent rebuild pumps but sometimes it cheaper to buy a new one rather than try to rebuild it (Sometimes) your best bet is to call your local diesel shop and ask if they rebuild pumps or they may have to call a specialty shop. rebuilding a pump is kinda like rebuilding an engine and it must be very clean or they will fail even earlyier if not imediatly.
