headlight switch, dash lights
Well i finally bought my first cummins last wednesday. 1998.5 24v
I love it but with every used truck..problems and lots of them.
The headlight switch was replaced 2 weeks ago and the guy i bought the truck from gave me the reciept..well the other night i had no headlights, dash lights, but did have dome lights. so today i decided to tear into it. found 2 burnt wires. at the headlight switch the plug looked like it was burnt so i decided to do away with the plug and put terminals on them. now my dash lights are still not working along with my gauges...what should i do/check next.
Thanks

Hey, I have put in 2 swiches (the guy at the dealer told mme its a comon problem with this year). I also had to replace the turn siignal asesembly on the column. I think there are aftermarket switches out for about 1/2 the cost and if you can get the harnes conector for the switch it may help and be safer. Just my thought

I'm having a similar problem, I bought my truck with an edge programmer. The programmer was tied into my dash fuse under the hood and the ecm fuse in the cab...it started popping the ecm fuse so I unhooked it and didn't have a problem. I decided to tie the programmer into my spare fuse slot in the cab and that's when I popped my dash light fuse under the cab. I unhooked the edge for that fuse and tied it into the spare fuse slot under the hood and haven't popped any fuses since it's been hooked up but now I keep popping my dash light fuse. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the edge or just coincedence that it started happening right after. Any tips or secrets on how to find a short?
