Default No speedo, ABS light on, replaced vss

Speedo was working over 25, then quit. Every once in a while, in the rain, I get the speedo back, but the brake and ABS lights stay on.

Just replaced the speed sensor in the rear end, no change. Its a 5speed , late 98, no sensor besides backup light switch in the trans/tcase.

Im thinking somewhere in the wiring is the issue, but Id love any ideas! Thanks!

Check the wiring on the driver side fender well. There is a plug that could have come undone take the liner out and it should be right there. Also check all fuses and relays.

Checked fuses, and relays, nothing there so far.
2 plugs on the drivers side under the liner, right at the firewall body mount. Figured those would be it. Tweaked the pins a little to tighten them up, hosed with wd-40.

No change. Was throwing 0500 code, but after clearing that it has not come back. Still no speedo, and ABS and brake lights are on. Im getting pretty good at remembering speed based on gear and RPM, but this is annoying! Time to start chasing continuity with a tester is all I can figure. Going to be fun to figure out which wire out of 20 matches the speed sensor wire!

It could be that the VSS is bad. Check into a new sensor maybe cheap enough to replace with out knowing for sure that is the problem.
