I talked to one of the guys at The Power Shop in Enumclaw, Washington this weekend because I was looking to get a pump. They sell only FASS but they can order AirDog. I asked him with what he'd seen and with everything that he'd heard, which one would he suggest. He said they were almost the same, but because of features and the like, he prefered one brand more than the other. My Airdog II DF-165 should be here at my hotel in Washington by Friday. Remember, he sells FASS.

If you decide to go with an Airdog, do yourself a favor, (in my opinion), and call Kenny at KT Performance. Not that he can go cheaper than everyone else, but I have dealt with him before and he's the poop. He couldn't beat their price (due to the minimum advertised price (MAP)), but he more than matched it, shipped it free to my hotel (I always get my goodies when I'm in the lower 48 to save on shipping. Thank you, U.S. Army) and he's a heck of a man. I could have gotten it in two days from right here where I'm at, but I still bought it from Kenny. Ask yourself, why would I do that?

I vote for the air dog over the fass because of sound and filtering capabilities.

However, be CAREFUL when installing the fittings into the base. DONT try to get them to sit flush, they will snap off. You want about 3 to 3.5 threads showing.

the air dog and fass are similar but the air dog 2 is nothing like the fass. air dog 2 is a one piece unit fass is 3. and the reason for everything being so close to same is they are father and son. father owns air dog son owns fass. they got the market cornered on the fuel pumps in that family...

See I have a stack set and a toolbox with some wiring and piping, air horns under toolbox, and a 3 marker light strip under my tailgate that would all have to be un and re-wired if I took my bed off haha. Easier for me to just drop the tank. It's really not that bad

i have to be honest ive put in quite a few in the shop and i find it easier to drop the tank. with the right tools its twice as fast and half the work. to each their own, everyone does things different and in their own way. ive tried it both ways and timed the job just to see. just my .02

This would require a lift, though, yes? Can I get that slid from under my '06 4x4 with 285's on it while in my garage? Not that I can't get a lift, and they ARE cheap to rent on post, but my 6 y/o son said that he just had to help me and the Auto Craft Shop will not let someone that young play in their garage with me.

ya a lift and a tranny jack are really nice but ive done them on the ground as well. it will slid out from under it or should with that size tires. if not a jack under the rear axle will get it high enough to drag it right out. best way to drop it on the ground is a floor jack and the tranny adapter that you can pick up at autozone or other auto parts stores for about 30-40 bucks. just do your best to run it as low of fuel as possible it makes the job much easier.
