Im getting a strange noise when I put load or excelerate. I almost cant hear it at idle on my 01. sound is comming from thr passenger side of the truck and I can only seem to hear it from inside the vehicle. It sounds initialy like a exhaust leak but then has a sucking noise when i let off the throttle. When i give it more throttle it is louder and more pronounced and goes to a rattling kind of sound almost like something is grinding when im above 2500 rpm. Any ideas what this is boost? or exhaust leak? bad turbo? something else?

need to check all your intercooler boots and the shaft play on the turbo. also check to make sure everything it tight. even the housings on the turbo.

Thanks for the analysis SPOT ON I checked the turbo shaft intercooler boots and all connections. Shaft has a little play and when I removed the air filter hose I could hear it whine at idle. thanks for the help
