Boost or Exhaust Leak
 

Im getting a strange noise when I put load or excelerate. I almost cant hear it at idle on my 01. sound is comming from thr passenger side of the truck and I can only seem to hear it from inside the vehicle. It sounds initialy like a exhaust leak but then has a sucking noise when i let off the throttle. When i give it more throttle it is louder and more pronounced and goes to a rattling kind of sound almost like something is grinding when im above 2500 rpm. Any ideas what this is boost? or exhaust leak? bad turbo? something else?:argh::dang:

need to check all your intercooler boots and the shaft play on the turbo. also check to make sure everything it tight. even the housings on the turbo. :humm:

Thanks for the analysis SPOT ON I checked the turbo shaft intercooler boots and all connections. Shaft has a little play and when I removed the air filter hose I could hear it whine at idle. thanks for the help
