So i was getting low on diesel so i let my 17 year old son run it down to the store and put 50.00 in it and on the way back it started blowing white smoke and it died in the middle of our street. i asked what had happened and he said that he put Vtech in and drove off.
big trouble or not?
i drained the tank and called a local guy to come and get it.

My question is? is the motor done or not?

 

Vtech? and did you tell him to put gas in? well the motor isnt done but i'd say you could have some trouble with some other things. for example injection pump, lift pump, maybe injectors. depends. i'd drain ever ounce of fluid from the fuel system and throw diesel back in and run her down the road. might work might have some problems with the above mentioned components but try runnin first

 

I did the same thing two years ago. My 1998.5 Cummins was running lousey anyway, but I did'nt know enough about the Cummins to figure it out. I needed a new lp and vp44. When I accidently filled up with unleaded I got about 1/2 mile and it was all over. $2880. for the repair and towing. I got screwed and left pissed off and still am. Sence then I installed a good set of guages and read everything I can about Cummins/Dodge. I also replaced the new oem lp the repair shop installed for $495.00 with a Fass. My experience was very expensive. I sincerely hope you turn out better than this old man did.
Make sure the repair shop purges the total fuel system and new filters. Good luck, Tom
