Blow-by is a combination of gases that collect in your crankcase, primarily cylinder gases. Not all compression and power stroke gases are sealed by the piston ring. A small amount leaks by every time the piston goes up. Essentially the gas blows-by the rings, therefor Blow-By. Ever engine has some, and as engines wear more blow-by is produced.
Vaporized oil is also in your blow-by, and is carried out the blow-by tube. Our trucks can with a catch can, more commonly known as the slobber can as is slobbers a little oil out every now and again. This can is removable, and can be poured out and cleaned as necessary. Optionally, you can ditch the bottle and run an extra piece of heater hose on the blow-by tube to redirect the slobber. Some send it straight down, others run the hose to the flywheel area to keep the slobber off the axle.
