Default 2000 Cummins, start issue

I posted this in the Distress forum but got no responce. Hope you guys can help.

I have a 2000 dodge Cummins with 240,000 miles on it.
For the past year or so it starts really slow.

After it sits, not running for more than a few hours it turns over for a very long time before it fires.

Not really a big deal but my remote start doesn’t work when it does this and I'm going to burn up the started eventually. When it first started happening I was told by a mechanic that it was a small leak in an o-ring in the return fuel line. I never received the part from him and can figure out where it is or what he was talking about. I really would like to fix it.

Does anyone have an idea if he was on the right track and where this is located? Or maybe give me another suggestion how to fix it.

Thanks for any Info you have.

more than likely your experienceing the same issue as me..some where in the fuel system you have a leak thats letting air get into the injection lines and cause a long cranking before start.. the only issue is finding it, id check the feed line going into the injection pump as those o-rings tend to get damaged if removed...

well if im not mistaken there is a psi test hook up on the vp44 and if it goes bad and leaks a bit of air your fuel lines drain back to the tanks...it happened on my buddies 99 cummins and sounds about like the problems your havin...may not be this too just thought id try to help
