A bunch of warning lights come on from what i hear. I'm not sure if the tach reads the same and you wont have the Wait to Start light or the Water in Fuel light.

yep stay with a diesel dash, also keep in mind that youre mileage will not be correct even with a junkyard diesel dash as the mileage is recorded in the dash unit itself, not the pcm or ecm

I thought that the PCM stores the mileage on a 02 and a 01 cause of the new system they used in it to be able to read the Obd codes from the dash

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Because I looked into it and for a 02 dash you have to replace it with a 02 dash but the 00 and 01 are interchangeable

i can read my codes from the dash too, it started in 2000, but i put a 1998 dash in mine, wont give the codes, but didn't throw any either.

I dont know much about it, i just know what Ive read and researched on the web, they say it can be swapped but the mileage wont be the same and if you go to a gasser dash, sometimes codes will trip. I do know that the federal government mandates that the odometer mileage be recored in the dash and it cannot be tampered with or reset. Been that way since the early 50s.
