Default exaust temp

I just put a temp guagein my truck and get mixed opinions on when to take your foot out of it to save motor. what is the max exaust temp you go to?

I wouldnt stay over 1350+ for long. Short bursts are fine.

short bursts of 1350 I agree.short to me is maybe 30 seconds

when towing heavy over mountain passes I try to keep it under 1300, I feel I can run 1250 all day long

x 2 on that.
According to Jay K. Miller- the turbo guru- and Gale Banks, 1250°F is a safe temperature. Anything above that has consequences in accelerrated turbo wear and premature fail.
