I will be buying my parents 38ft 5er in a month or so. I am thinking about upgrading my transmission. The 5er weighs about 14500. the only upgrades on my truck are ad150, exhaust, bhaf, and gauges. I will never race my truck, just pull the 5er and drive it every day. the truck only has 130k on it right now so i was thinking about just putting a converter, vb and maybe a shift kit in and while im at it adjusting the bands. Will this be enough? I plan on maybe some rv275 injectors down the road and maybe a smarty or edge comp. what are your thoughts?
I have also read some good things about remax converters and vb's so i was thinking of going that route. comments welcome!

if it's the original trans don't waste your time doing just the upgrades. I would save up and do a good rebuild when your ready. If you just do valve body and converter you will end up loosing the trans and then have to send the converter out to be cleaned and checked out and that just adds to the overall cost.

I've got a triple disc tc and upgraded valve body that up'd the line pressue....JUNK
I rarely tow very much with my truck and have Comp Box, Injectors, Exhaust and Intake and my tranny is weak.
I've blown the cooler lines because of the line pressure, transmission doesn't like to downshift as quickly as it should, the list goes on.
Take that guys advise, rebuild it
