Default 4wheel drive popping out! Please help!

I have a Dodge 4x4 Turbo Diesel, and it keeps popping out of 4 wheel drive. It stays in if I'm going slow around 15-20 mph but any faster and I can feel it come out it's like running over something. Any ideas? It is snowing and I have to haul water so I need to know my options. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Melissa

Not to ask a dumb question, but are you sure the lever is pulled all the way back...and LOCKED in? Have you tried holding the lever in 4X4 to see if it will work that way?

Default 4 wheel drive popping out

It's in as far as it will go. Is it possible it feels like it's in but that it's just not all the way? The light on the dash flicks when it makes a noise and pops out. We got stuck a few weeks ago and it's been doing it ever since. Could it be that we knocked something loose? I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you, Melissa

The linkage could possible be out of adjustment... do you have a Haynes manual? It will have all the specifications in it for adjustment...and to be safe, you should probably check your fluid level. One last thing, you should probably fill out your sig so we know all the details of your truck, I found in your profile it was a 99...but that was it. We need model, transmission, etc. thanks
