help bad turbo?
Hey y'all I took my exhaust off the other nite to put my new 5" on and noticed the downpipe had quite a bit of oil in it so I was just wondering is it time for a rebuild or what do you guys think truck runs fine and boosts just fine I have hit 50 psi with it never seen egts over 1300 for a few seconds

Is there oil anywhere else, as in on the clean air side? Oil, or unburnt fuel? Cold weather idling can cause the fuel to not completely burn, and look like oil in the exhaust. I've seen it quite a bit on construction equipment as some operators let their machines run all night when the temps get way down.

Your turbo is bypassing oil thru the bearing center section into the exhaust. 50 psi boost and 1300 degrees are both hard on the turbo and stress the internals. It will spin still well and last for a while but the right thing to do is buy a rebuild kit (less than 100 bucks) and take the small amount of time to rebuild it. And then be nice to it until you get a bigger one.
