How long ago was the injection pump put in? Did they check the lift pump?
You seriously need to get a fuel pressure gauge if your going to mess around with any type of after market fueling. I know it's a extra expense but it is definitely cheaper in the long run.

it was replaced in august of 07. has about 60,000 miles on it give or take a few. Im almost positive the lift pump is good. it fills up the filter housing when i change the filter pretty quick

wouldnt the computer throw a code if the injection pump was putting out low pressure? Oh and btw dont go to lincoln techs diesel school. I was a 4.0 student and its not helping me in this matter at all.

You can have strong pressure at idle and it falls on it's face at full throttle, this is why you have to mount the gauge someplace that it can be seen all the time while your driving. Or you may have strong pressure now and 5 minutes form now it's got nothin. This is all common stuff with these trucks. That $30 Gauge can save you $1500 worth of pumps as long as you have it.

Nope. very rarely will you ever get codes from low pressure.

yeah thats basically what my truck is doing. feels great up until about 30mph the the smoke stops and the truck slows down

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

could this still b caused by the lift pump?

Could be either pump or both. When a lift pump goes bad it will take the VP with it. This is why the gauge is so important, so that you know when you have a problem before it get's expensive.

Don't know if it's the same on the VP trucks as it is on the common rail trucks. But I know that you can set a speed limiter on the common rail Smarty's. I accidentally did it once. It ran like a raped ape up to about 35 then it just shut down. Never hurts to check.

Hmm, thats weird. You haven't hit the speed limiter yet? I think you might want to check your transmission belt, thats been known to cause problems on these trucks, really limiting the top end.
Either that or you might want to check your header, because I know my cousins 99 can hit at least 255 and it doesn't have a lot done to it.

Just messin
