weird start?
ok whenever i go to start my truck i have to turn the key and wait about three seconds for the truck to start, but if i just hop in my truck and not wait for about three seconds with the key turned on the truck wont start it will just crank crank crank.
the three seconds is kinda mandatory. the problem ur having, is ur lift pump is over pressureizing the pump, cauing a hard start. if u let it the pump kick on, then back off, it will start right up.
a cummins does not have GLOW PLUGS. they have a grid heater that heats the air before it enters the motor.
yes it is normal for them to have to be waited on to start. u should always let the grids finish cycleing before u try and start the truck. the reason y the fuel pump runs for 3 seconds and then stops is because the vp44 is finicky. it will create a hard start problem if it is over pressurized while its trying to start. then as soon as the motor is running, the lift pump kicks back on and will continue to run till the truck is turned off.

i had a problem with mine starting and it was the check valve on the return line. It was seeping air and i think causing pressure lose. got a new one and havent had a problem now. Other than the washers going bad but have new ones of those and it works great again.
