Default removing 47re from an 01 cummins

i have been thinking of taking my truck to the shop but i am now considering taking the tranny out to replace the bad tc i have pretty good mechanical skills but have never removed this type of tranny from a cummins what do i need ie special tools and is this something that is pretty ruff to tackle like i said i just need to get the old tc out and a new one in any help i would appreciate i am also looking for a good used tc if anybody knows anything i have it in the wtb section i need one for my truck in sig

no special tools needed. a trans jack is a must these things are heavy.

other that it replacing a torque convertor str8 up i have been looking into it and it seems as though it is i know but tc is out cuz my truck is hard to find reverse or 1st and wont find 2 and on it is super lazy it may find reverse but it hardly will move when it does and im am hearing a whine from the bell housing almost like a fins in water spinning so i really think its the tc

Pulling the trans is pretty straight forward but its not something I would tackle by myself, its at minimum a two man job.

It's not that bad. I've pulled and installed a nv5600 by myself. It's not fun but doable.

Most everything is straight forward. To get to the TC to Flexplate bolts there is a big plastic plug on the passenger side of the engine bellhousing that you must remove. Then you can use a big screw driver or a turning tool to rotate the engine and remove the TC bolts one at a time.

Biggest thing is on the reinstall. You have to make sure the TC is fully seated in the trans otherwise it could take out your pump pretty quick.

I have a rebuilt Suncoast triple disk that I would be willing to sell. I have no idea what the stall is however.

I just pulled one two saturdays ago and its definately a two man job. It is pretty straight forward tho, actually the hardest part was getting the cross member out. We'll see how it goes putting it in this saturday
