Default 47re to nv4500

How hard is it to convert from a 47re to a nv4500? My 47re is starting to slip and I am at the point where in order to add more power I'm thinking I will have to do a few transmission upgrades to handle it. Previously owning a 99 with the nv4500 I've found that I really prefer a manual to an automatic. Since I don't tow very often I think a 5spd would be more practical than a 6spd. After looking around a bit it looks like the easiest way to do it is with a donor vehicle, obviously installing a new clutch and resurfaced flywheel. About how long does it usually take to do the conversion and what are some common complications I could expect to run into? Will the ECU/PCM be a problem since it is for an automatic?

I don't usually tow I just like the simplicity and reliability of a stick, I've had a better experience with it than the 47re

too bad your not closer, i am looking to swap my 5 speed for an auto and we could have just pulled the trucks together and swap everything over. but from what i understand the ecm will work fine you just need the trans controller and wiring harness for the auto and also swap the throttle linkage. the stick doesn't need any wiring or computer so its the easy part.

I did this conversion on my 99 and it was fairly simple. It helps alot if you can find a donor truck which makes finding parts easier. Going from auto to manual is way easier then going from manual to auto.
The only thing i had to modify for the switch was the hole in the floor, everything else was bolt right in.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
