The 53 Block cracked . . .
So I have a 99 Ram 2500 with the 24v 5.9 Cummins and the other day started showing serious signs of weeping on the passenger side.
I've read the posts regarding the lock n stitch and everyones posts regarding this, what i am wondering is does anyone have any recent updates regarding the repairs on there own blocks?
did the lock n stich hold?
has anyone had success with additives to the cooling system working?
a mechanic suggested to me a plate of sorts welded over the top of the crack?
at the moment i just cant afford a new engine and this is my daily driver for my business
any info apprectiated

dont know anyone who has had this done but im sure it is going to be expensive as they have to drill and weld...as well as get whatever is in the way out of the way to get to the problem area. i would do one of two things. either trade it in right now or get a new block. its not the cheapest way to do it but the best way. if something were to happen to the weld or whatever fix you choose then you will be out that and then have to do it again. try to get it done right...might be a headache to get there but a big relief when its fixed for sure.
so spoke to Lock N Stitch in california, $2750 to do the repair, comes with 90 day warranty as long as you havnt modified the engine in any way to gain more power (gauges etc are fine)
Trade in seems to be the way to go right now, anyone replaced a cummins engine? how much did they pay for there's? new or used?
thanks again for everyones input so far
