Default Diesel Fuel Compatible Thread Sealer

I was just wanting to see what everyone has used and trusts for a diesel fuel compatible thread sealer. I know there will be alot of different answers but I just want to know what everyone else is using or has used and how great or not so great it worked.

I use Permatex Anti-Sieze. Stay away from plumber's tape or paste.

Antisieze is not thread sealant,

Plumbers paste is what you WANT to use. Its basically teflon paste. It can be found under the name Permatex PST, or Loctite Swak among other names.

Another thing you can use is Permatex Number 2.

Thats what I use, you have to make sure you get the tape thats made for fuel, not the white tape

Teflon tape isnt a very good idea anywhere on your fuel system. As fittings are screwed in, bits of the tape tend to break off and can cause problems.

Threads that "seal" are tapered threads. I've used nothing but tape on any NPT fittings anywhere, ever - never a problem. The yellow stuff is supposed to be more chemical compatible, but they all work fine for this purpose. I left a piece of the white tape in a cup of diesel for thee months a few back back and it did not dissolve or decompse at all.

All you have to do is apply it properly, like not leave a big gob of it hanging loose to lose in there while you put it together. The tape is more of a thread lubricant than a sealant, same for the paste. NPT seals by the force of the tapered thread. The tape or paste lubes the thread and prevents galling, allowing it to tighten up and seal properly before the threads bind.
